Biography
“From the Darkroom”
My name is Angela Fregoso, and I am a freelance photographer. I have been enrolled in the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas, for over 10 years. Throughout my studies, I have received extensive instruction on black and white film processing techniques and dark room printing methods. Whenever I am in the darkroom, I feel like I learn something new; it is a never-ending lesson in film and print processing. For me personally, working in the darkroom is similar to cooking a meal and following a recipe. You need the right combination of fresh spices or (chemicals), precise timing, and ultimately a good eye and sense of taste to complete the meal (or in my case, the photo print). As with perfecting a recipe, it can take years of cooking in the kitchen to find just the right formula. Once you discover the best approach to cooking the recipe, you do your best to repeat the same steps.
“I enjoy taking pictures, especially when I travel, however, I remain interested in different fields of photography such as nature, pet, flower, street, political and still-life photography.“
I understand now that I tend to take photos with a purpose and this stems from internal emotions that I seek to process. Over the years, I have discovered that my passion for engaging in photography work has also been my emotional salvation. Immerging in photography has granted me a gift of therapeutic benefits. Taking photos as well as processing them has been a channel to express my joy, sadness, fear, anger, love, shame, anxiety and so on.
With the art of photography, memories never fade and once you capture an image or fail to capture it, a second goes by and the moment is gone forever.
I thank you for visiting my site and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
