Prints From The Darkroom : Art For A Cause
Thomson’s gazelle, named after researcher Joseph Thompson, usually produces a single offspring born after a gestation period of about 180 days. They are one of the few hoofed mammals that can breed twice yearly. Thomson gazelles are highly attuned to sounds, movement and smells and when they detect danger, they only need to stamp one foot to alert the herd to disperse. Prey to lions, leopards, hyenas, jackals, baboons, crocodiles and cheetahs, they can run extremely fast. Female gazelles band together to protect the offspring of other females.
