Prints From The Darkroom : Art For A Cause
A good picture can happen by accident. This image was shot on a bright sunny day. However, as I floated by the solitary boat down the Mekong River, the clouds must have moved directly over the boat to cut off the sun’s light. This was a gift from the clouds as the light adjustment created film and print processing in the darkroom which ultimately resulted in a gelatin print giving the appearance of a night photography print.
The Mekong River in Vietnam has served as a crucial center for trade and settlement with Vietnamese settlers since the 1600s and to this day serves as a daily market for the trade of goods and produce. The Mekong River is also of great cultural importance for Vietnamese people as many local traditions and festivals are tied to the Mekong River.

Note: All images have been vetted and critiqued by virtue of group discussions with my teacher, professional photographer Amy Blakemore and advanced students, many of whom are professional photographers that attend the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas. Photos are evaluated based on light and shadows, contrast, composition, patterns and shapes, texture, movement, print quality and expression. Please allow 3 to 5 days for darkroom processing.
