Image #7 Sagrado Valley: Peru

The Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru has been inhabited by many civilizations since around 800 BCE. The valley’s rich soil and location between Cusco and Machu Picchu made it a vital area for the Incas. The Incas conquered the valley in 1420 and ruled it for over 100 years, building temples, cities, and terraces in the valley. The Incas were an extremely advanced civilization of this time period as they developed agricultural techniques like terracing and irrigation to make the valley more productive.
